Zachary Johnson

Postdoctoral Associate

Zachary Johnson is a Postdoctoral Associate in the BioJazz Lab. Zachary’s research uses high-throughput experimental analysis and multi-omics to understand microbial cells at a systems level, with a focus on cyanobacteria: how gene regulatory networks coordinate day–night metabolic transitions, redox signaling, and responses to oxidative stress. Zachary has also studied the assembly and functional specialization of microbial consortia for lignocellulose conversion.

Education

  • Ph.D., Biological/Biosystems Engineering, Washington State University (WSU–PNNL Distinguished Graduate Research Program)
  • B.S., Microbiology, San Diego State University
